Olaf Engvig has saved numerous traditional open longboats of the Viking type from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
He has restored and sailed several of them on the Norwegian coast, around and across the North Sea,
and on the Pacific coast of the United States.
Small Boat Detail
At present, he has the following longboats:

Halvfjerming FROYA, b.1983 (replica of a boat built in 1872), 27 feet, 8 oars, and a square sail;

Firing HITRA, b.1863,
29 feet long, 10 oars, square sail (in original condition);

Seksring REIN, b.1905, 23 feet, 8 oars, square sail;

Faering Mr.THOMAS, b.1875, 20 feet, 4 oars, square sail; and

Faering JAKOB, b.1932, 19 feet, 4 oars, fore-and-aft rig.
